The Fire of Origin

I·5 · The Solar Realm

The Transmission

This flame is older than every night it crossed — someone carried it hungry, unthanked, unnamed, so it could reach your hands. You did not light it, and you may not let it go out politely. A fire is not kept by admiring it. What have you done with what was carried to you?

The Shadow Whisper

When this message is being refused, it speaks in one of two polite voices. The first is the shrine: it is too sacred to use — guard it, seal it, keep it exactly as it was. That voice has mistaken the ashes for the fire, and guards them fiercely while the flame starves. The second is the shrug: it is old; someone else will keep it. Hear the keepers: the dark does not ask which politeness put the fire out. Both rings go equally cold.

Sit With It

Name aloud one thing that was carried down to you — a song, a recipe, a prayer, a way of loving — and name, out loud, who carried it. Then feed it today: cook it, sing it, speak it, teach it to one person. That is the feeding. That is the whole ceremony.
