Monroe Artist Sketching
Slow down and really look.
What this friend is telling you
Monroe is sitting on a mossy log in her mushroom-realm studio, drawing a toadstool with her twig pencil. Notice what she does first. She looks. She looks for a long time before her pencil ever moves. This card comes to you when something in your life deserves that kind of attention. Maybe it is homework you have been racing through, a new skill you want, or a friend who is trying to tell you something. When you truly look and truly listen, you see what everyone else walks past.
Watch out for…
rushing just to be done, because "done fast" and "done well" are not the same thing.
Try this
Pick one small thing — a leaf, your pet, your own shoe — and draw it for five quiet minutes. It does not have to be good. It only has to be looked at.
