The Star-Tides

II·7 · The Lunar & Astral Realm

The Transmission

Your waters rise and fall, and you have been calling it your nature — but nothing tides without a pull. Some pulls are ours: the drawing home. Some are not — and you have orbited them so long you call the orbit your path. A sovereign sea still answers the true moon. Whose gravity is moving your waters — and when did you last choose it?

The Shadow Whisper

When this message is being refused, the whisper defends the hooks by renaming them: loyalty, duty, habit, "that's just how I am." Its favorite argument is tenure — you have answered this pull so long that answering feels like identity, and the orbit has worn so deep it looks like a path. Hear the elders: an orbit is not a path. A path goes somewhere. Ask of any recurring tide in you: in all these years of rising to this pull, where has it ever carried you but around?

Sit With It

For three days, keep a tide chart of your own waters. Each time your inner sea visibly rises or falls — heaviness, elation, anxiety, deadness — write one line: what pulled, and the honest answer to the test: more in my waters afterward, or less? On the third night, read the chart by candlelight. Choose one hook to unhook, out loud: "My waters no longer answer this pull." And choose one true moon to answer more — name it, and go be pulled.
