The wren is one of the very smallest birds in the wood, all fluffed up round on its frosty bramble — and it is one of the loudest, proudest singers in the entire forest, even on the coldest mornings. In old tales, the wren is called the king of the birds, and it won that crown with cleverness, not size. Youngest in the family? Shortest in the class? Newest on the team? None of that measures your might. Sing anyway.
