Releasing What Binds You

The Seven Healing Spreads

A healing spread by Ma'hara

A clear-eyed look at the thing you cannot set down, and the loosening of your grip on it. Bring this when something has quietly become the one who decides — a habit, a person, a substance, a role, a story about yourself — and you have handed over the deciding without noticing the transfer. It is the Chain's territory: not evil, not weakness, but an attachment worn so long it feels like a fixed condition instead of a choice made again and again. Bring it when you're ready to look directly at what you've organized your life around, and to remember your hand was always on the link.

Ask it plainly, the way you would ask a trusted friend — or skip this and let the cards speak first.

The positions

  1. 1. What holds youthe attachment itself, named honestly: not the story you tell about it, but the thing your life has quietly arranged itself around.
  2. 2. The grip you never chosethe moment or need where you handed over the deciding; how the hold got its authority, unconsciously, and kept it.
  3. 3. What it gives youthe real thing the binding provides, because it provides something, or you'd have set it down already: the comfort, the numbing, the identity, the way it lets you not feel something else.
  4. 4. The fear under the holdingwhat you would have to feel or face if your hand opened; the older ache the grip has been keeping at bay.
  5. 5. Your hand back on the linkthe return of your authority over what you desire — not the end of the need, but the moment the choice becomes yours again. This is the restoring card.

How to read it

Read the three links across, then drop to the fear beneath. Card 1 reversed almost always means the Shadow is fully awake — the binding is active, the sitter already knows. Do not moralize at card 3; the honest naming of what the attachment gives is what makes releasing possible. Card 4 is the tender center — often a Heart or Ground Field fear. Card 5 restores: the grip released, the hand that forgot it was holding on remembering, and opening.

How it closes in the body

Close on card 5, your hand back on the link. Its Somatic Anchor lives in the jaw and the hands — soften the jaw, let the hands fall open, palms up, and feel the small honesty of holding nothing. Guide the sitter to ask, silently, what they are gripping that was never theirs to hold this tightly, and on the exhale, to loosen it by one honest degree. Not all the way. Ten percent. Let that be enough for today.
